John Mark Comer’s book Practicing the Way gives believers in Jesus a guide to practical living and following Christ in a world full of well-meaning noise. I heard Pastor John in an interview on the Holy Post podcast and knew I had to get this book. I like to have my brain stretched and challenged with deep theological concepts, but that’s not what this book is. In fact, its quite the opposite, and surprised me by being one of my new favorites for its simplicity. Many times throughout the book, I had to stop and pray, being challenged by the Holy Spirit to reflect on my own need to be more like Jesus in simple ways to the people God has put in my life. If “…understand all mysteries and all knowledge but have not love…” were a book, this would be it. This book challenged me to get out of my own head and just be with Jesus and be like Jesus. Simple.
